Hybrid Power for K9 Dog Grooming Van
When K9 Grooming Supplies were looking at options for building the ultimate mobile grooming vehicle they turned to Energy Solutions to help them design and supply the electric components for powering the equipment on board. Energy Solutions have a long association with the specialist vehicle industry supplying innovative and efficient power systems to help customers power their equipment anywhere, anytime.
The system developed for K9 included a Victron Multi Plus combined with a Victron Lithium Battery, monitored via a Victron BMV700 Battery Monitor.
Energy from the battery is fed through the Multi which converts it to 230AC output for the equipment on board requiring power.
The benefit of the Lithium battery over standard batteries were numerous – it is just 33% of the size of a standard leisure battery - so taking us much less space on board; it has a very low discharge rate; is 99% efficient at converting charge energy to charge source; and has a much longer service life - up to 3 x a standard Gel battery. The system allows the van to be plugged in overnight to charge up the battery (as well as charging whilst the vehicle is being driven, via a split charge relay) so when the van arrives at it’s job, it is ready to go! All the grooming can be done on board without the need for a mains connection.
